48 Teams, 104 Games, 3 Host Countries

Match Schedule, Host Cities, and Qualifiers Announced

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, marketed as FIFA World Cup 26, will be the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international men's soccer championship contested. The tournament will be hosted by three countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States, with 104 matches to be played in 16 cities across the three nations.

A total of 48 teams will compete in the tournament, up from the 32 teams that participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The expansion to 48 teams was approved by the FIFA Council in 2017, with the aim of increasing the global participation in the tournament.

The host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup were announced in June 2022, with 16 cities selected from the three host countries. The cities will host a total of 104 matches, including the opening match, the semi-finals, and the final.

The qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will begin in 2023, with the final 48 teams to be determined through a series of regional qualifying tournaments. The draw for the final tournament will be held in 2025, with the matches scheduled to be played between June and July 2026.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to be a major sporting event, with millions of fans around the world expected to tune in to watch the matches. The tournament will also be a major economic driver for the host countries, with billions of dollars expected to be spent on infrastructure, tourism, and other related industries.
